Went out mushroom hunting with my favorite fungus finder - TopicsExpress

Went out mushroom hunting with my favorite fungus finder today. Joni is amazing when she is searching for edible fungi. We had hoped the recent rains would have made the mysterious mycelia fruit abundantly this week. Did not see any fungi, at all, the 1st couple places we looked.. Maybe chanterelle mycelium like a presoaking before they start erupting with tasty fungus? Picture 1: The Magic Horse who lives on (redacted) Road just up from (redacted) Creek. When this horse is up in the high part of its pasture and the sun hits it just right, it glows with a beautiful golden aura that would make Gandalf or Legolas want to leap on its back and gallop off. Picture 2: The rare & elusive Sweaty Fungus. Edibility & Psychoactivity unknown. Did primitive tribes have designated taste testers to answer those questions? Did that task get assigned to the least popular (and shortest lived) members of the Clan? Picture 3. Looks like a cozy spot some chainsaw artist cut into this log. And despite the decorative cans and bottles on the arm rests, the rest of the area was tidy. It was nice to see that it had not been trashed like some party spots. Not sure what was different about the 3rd place we looked but it was a few miles from the first few spots we hunted. And if it had just been me, I probably would come home empty handed. As it was we (joni) found a half dozen or so at the last place we looked. Jonis mushroom hunting skills are incredible. I am pretty sure she looks within herself and uses the Force to locate cleverly camouflaged mushrooms. It is uncanny the way she can find edible fungi where sometimes I see nada.
