Went to Carcassonne today and visited La Cite, a walled city built in the 11th century. It was spectacular and we had a great day despite being caught in a wild rain storm up on the ramparts - the full thing with lightning, thunder, hail and a strong wind pushing the rain in sideways. We took cover in a corner battlement but got soaked and had to walk back down bare-footed. The rain half filled the moat which was a hoot!
