Went to Karas annual meeting at the school yesterday and after I learned what she learned, I challenged myself to challenge her... After 14 years of changing her diaper/pull-up I said you do it. With minimal physical guidance she AMAZED me with completing 90% of the steps!!! For a girl thats gauged at 18 months old cognitively - this is SUCH A MILESTONE!!!!!!!! Its a good lesson for ANY parent --- sometimes its hard to either recognize or let go, when its time for them to leap over their next hurdle. It was a definite challenge for me. I didnt want to make her feel dumb or embarrassed if she couldnt do it. I didnt want her to feel frustrated that shed never want to try again...... she SMILED the entire time my jaw was on the floor, and after I freaked the hell out :) she LAUGHED and LAUGHED!! KAREBEAR helped me peel away a protective layer that was intended to help both of us. KARA IS A FREAKIN ROCK STAR!!!!!
