Went to Viaduct yesterday standing in for Steve Tucker for the Spring league. Drew peg 110 on Campbell lake. There was no picture for a good reason... My phone took a surprise swim before the match had even started.... Anyway.. Decided to fish meat at top 6 and 14.5m and also down to my left towards some brambles at 14.5m. I fed 6mm Fin Perfect feed pellets looking to fish shallow and through the water to the bottom down the edge. Started at top 6, didnt have a bite. Then decided to go to 14.5m trying shallow and slapping which never worked. Then chucked a straight lead down the bank, once again nothing happened. All this time I still fired pellets down the edge. After an hour I hadnt caught anything so went down the edge, starting off with a bottom rig. I only had three liners and foul-hooked one carp so picked up my shallow rig, fishing 1ft deep with a 6mm hard pellet as hook bait. Over the next two hours, caught around 15 carp mainly caught slapping feeding very little pellet. Average size was 3-4lb. Because of the brambles, had to fish 16 Duro-Hollo, tightened. Things then dried up,so decided to go on the bottom over the same line. With 8mm pellet hook bait and feeding 6mm though a med cad pot caught approx 25 More carp and 20 lbs of tench.Ended up with a total of 211lbs which won me match.
