Went to cinema today with my kids to watch the new Tinkerbell film. Whilst there we saw a huge sign for the new Annie film and another family were nearby talking about it. The Mum said oh look Nigel, theyve remade it and theres a black Annie. Their conversation hardly registered until about ten minutes later. In the queue for our tickets and it was packed with people. The guy at the desk asked us what film would you like to see?. I said what film do we fancy kids? I asked it knowing full well what the answer was; but was looking forward to the sound of 4 tiny children all excitedly screaming Tinkerbell!. Out of nowhere my daughter pipes up at the top of her voice Id like to see Black Annie please daddy!. It was one of those moments where it seemed the noisy hubbub of the cinema queue went quiet for that briefest of moments and the phrase black Annie please daddy rung through the air like an air raid siren! I just whispered thats not what its called sweetheart and then slowly died.
