Went to colony today to tarp the remaining shelters that werent covered, and as i went to move one of the shelters, i found it was real heavy. I couldnt imagine why a cat would stay in shelter as i am lifting it, so i look in and i see brown fur. So then i think oh, it must be Sox. As Sox is the only cat there with brown fur. I go to turn around, and there i see Sox standing behind me. This made me a little freaked out. So then i wonder if its a new cat, so i look in, and i see this long face of an animal i have never seen before! ... oh my gosh, i freak out and run away! .. i go to grab one of the guys standing at end of alley, we check it out, and its a possum! This lil guy would not leave the shelter! I call 311 to report a possum and see if they can send someone to pick it up, after being on hold for 10 minutes, she comes back to say that they wouldnt pick him up unless he was sick or injured. So i get off the phone, and we try and tilt the shelter, finally he comes running out and bolts for a corner. As he was running away, i noticed that he was injured. It looks like his rear leg is giving him problems. The woman on the phone also told me that if the animal was injured, they would euthanize him. What should i do? .. should i go back and see if hes still in alley and phone them back, or should i just leave him to return wherever he came from?
