Went to eat at a buffet and the man next to me was stinky and in old clothes. I figured he was a construction worker because of his neon shirt. He started up a conversation with me and after a while he asked me for a dollar 60 to take the bus. After a few follow up questions I knew he was being sincere. I let him know I had a quick errand to run in the same shopping area but gave him my word Id be back to give him a ride if he waited.. took longer than I thought to run errand because of some holdups and he almost gave up but he said he knew I gave him my word so he waited. I picked him up and got to know Curtis during the drive. Curtis is a 41 year old homeless veteran (since last September) and opened up to me about what he was going through. He has shrapnel in his leg and was disabled from his time in the Marines...not receiving any money yet. He let me know of his past... and how if I had any idea who he is or what he had done in his life I would not be giving him a ride. He was a convicted felon and thief, prior drug addict, etc. I told him he is made in Gods own image and he is not a mistake but a success story in the making, and that he is valuable. He said he felt like God must have put me in his life because he was so close to giving up completely. He didnt ask for more than a ride, but I prayed with him before he left and had an envelope with Philippians 4:4-9 I had written on it with a financial gift for him to help him over the next week. Please keep Curtis in your prayers over this next week! I gave him my phone number and let him know to call me in 2 weeks to update me on his success story.
