Went to our stable yard late last night just to do one of my impromptu unexpected spot-checks and see if the nightwatchman was awake,if all the horses were okay,had teff nets,water etc.....i did my rounds,said goodbye to the nightwatchman and left....I was not far down the road driving home,when i got this frantic call from Albert,the night-watch,saying he had just fended off 3 black men who tried to jump him....He got away and managed to run to the staff quarters where they all were awoken from his screams and ran out to help him....The three menacing dark figures seeing everyone coming out disappeared into the fields surrounding the stables and were not seen again.....The most frightening part is that just before i left,i was going to turn around the corner of one of the buildings but as i was walking towards there,i dont know what came over me and i turned around and went back to my car thinking it was cold and better to get home.I had seen enough and all was well so i cut my inspection short and i left.It turns out that literally meters from where i had gone these three men were waiting around that corner.The night watch saw a shadow move at that spot and went to investigate upon which they attacked him.....God helped him and God helped me in making that decision to walk away at that very last moment.I have always felt safe going to the stables but i must admit this has shaken me up a bit.South Africa is notorious for such attacks often leading to death.Did i just escape becoming one of this countrys latest crime statistics ?......All i know is i will be much more aware and careful from now on......Thank you Lord for sparing me and letting me live a little longer in this world........My family and my animals still need me....
