Went to register Stevens pickup last week and the Missouri - TopicsExpress

Went to register Stevens pickup last week and the Missouri Licensing Dept. was closed (on Dec. 26 or 27). The tags on the truck were valid through Dec. 31st. So I show up today to get it registered and they slap a $5 late fee on the tags. I asked why, and they responded that the tags were due by Dec. 31st (even though the old ones were good through Dec. 31st). I said that it was like charging a renter a late fee if they paid their rent on the first business day after it was due and that it made no sense! Then they told me that I had to go down to Greene County offices with Steven to get a no personal property tax due statement for 2013 (even though he didnt own the vehicle in MO on Jan. 1, 2013 and therefore didnt owe any personal property tax). So we go down to the office--got the form and went to another License office. They informed me that only one of us listed on the title needed to have proof of property tax paid (I had mine). Government bureaucracy! Afterwards I text the two Bobs (Dixon & Cirtin)--One is our State Senator and the other the Greene County County Commissioner and asked them to legislate a three-day grace period for vehicle registration and for Greene County and the License Bureau to be able to communicate regarding tax waivers! Im sure theyll both jump right on it! I think Ill text the Bobs every day during 2015 with helpful suggestions from their constituents! Maybe that should be my resolution. Im sure my # will be blocked on January 3rd!!
