Went to see The Hobbit with very low expectations. From that perspective, it wasnt terrible. There was definitely $15.00 of movie in there, you just have to winnow it out from all the excess effects and Peter Jackson hybherpole. (Sand worms? Really? *Sand worms?!!* Anthony Pryor, I thought you were kidding.) Actors definitely rose above the material and saved the movie. After movie, went across the street with friends to dissect what was good, what was forgivable, and what could never be forgiven. (We all agreed that FX acrobatics that violate the laws of physics are unforgivable outside of anime, with superhero movies being a gray area. Since they violated the rules of Tolkiens world, we unanimously declared there to be no forgiveness for PJ)
