Went to see puppy again today. Puppy is sad. Very sad guys. He does not look better. We think we may have caught it very early on. This means we havent seen the worst yet. Parvo gets ugly yall. This is the first time Ive ever seen parvo with my own eyes. Im hurting. My heart hurts. Im completely heartbroken. He is miserable. He still will not eat. And even with their efforts to force feed puppy he is throwing it all up. Puppy wont even drink water. Remember I saw puppy on Monday...today I can tell with my own eyes that he is losing a lot of weight. They cant take him out of the room hes in because they dont want to infect the rest of the office. He is basically quarantined. When I go to leave the room he is in I have to dip my feet in some kind of solution (Im guessing bleach) to make sure I do not spread it to the rest of the office. MY SHOES CAN SPREAD THIS!!! He had just messed in his run so they had to clean it all up and move him into the next run. I honestly think that is the only reason he is sitting up. He only moved his head. He looked at me more and responded to sounds I made and other people made. But he would not move his body. I think thats how uncomfortable he is. He is turning to skin and bones. But he still has that beautiful, big block head that I love so much. His floppy ears were killing me. All I wanted to do was hold him tight in my arms and let him know he would be safe from here on out. Again, he is still vomiting and has diarrhea. He is still not eating and is taking poorly to being force fed. (They take a syringe full of liquid food, stick it into the side of his mouth as far back as they can and push) He will not drink water either. But thats where his IV comes in. He has two baggies. One is liquids to keep him hydrated. I was told it has electrolytes and essential nutrients to keep him alive... The second baggie I assume is medication that helps his stomach. I am told it forms sort of a coating on the inside of his stomach (maybe intestines too?) to help with the irritation being cause by the parvo. As far as health updates thats all Ive got for yall 😔 Money update: this is much better news. I am in shock how far his story has gone. Both Nikki and I are in sororities (her here at TXST and I from HBU) and we have had sisters as far as MARYLAND donate!!! I dont know how much the bill increased today because charges are put in at the end of the day. They stand at $380 but will increase. We have raised directly to the vet a total of $308. I was also told there have been people who have called asking if this story is true and if the puppy really is in need of help. THAT IS OK!!!! That means people are responding!! The go find me account is still going as well! I JUST checked at its at $260!!! I just want to remind everyone...we may be looking at a higher bill than we first expected. Puppy will not be leaving tomorrow as planned and most likely not Saturday either. I have told the vet (I, Nikki and foster mom Bridget all agree) that the puppy will stay until he is certain he is in the recovery stages of this illness/disease. So please continue to share. Talk about it. Tell everyone. We need everything we can get. But you all are AMAZING. Yall have exceeded our expectations. And we will be forever grateful to yall. Thank you from the bottom of your hearts for caring about #CharlesAustinPuppy. I was reminded that what we have accomplished is incredible. Why? He is a pit bull (we are not sure specifically what breed he is) and the level of discrimination and hate towards bully breeds is high. This means yall have looked past his *future* muscular body, block shaped head, stereotype of the breed and have come together to save an INNOCENT life. Being an owner of two Pitbulls myself, I cannot thank yall enough. Yall give me hope that one day, maybe not in my lifetime, everyone look at these gorgeous animals and love them all the same. From the bottom of MY heart, thank you. I, my boys and puppy, we love you all.
