Went to the Digestive Diseases Unit this afternoon for an initial appointment with a new Consultant. Can not believe his name considering he covers Chest Stomach and Bowel. Mr Butt.... I took a hand written list of ALL of my problems in detail in all areas and some pictures on my mobile taken over time. I was looked at standing then a nurse helped me onto the examination table. I have a Pre existing condition....called a Diverication of the Recti. It is a large lump on the chest more visible when you lay down flat . It appears on or near scar line from previous operations. Mine is the size and shape of half of a Rugby ball cut longways and goes down the chest and tummy not across. He gave me a full examination. Outcomes Blood tests....Nurse tried both arms and back of one hand. Nothing. They have to stop after three attempts. I have the form and nurse will have to come home and take the blood He found 3 hernias. One large which is causing my eating problem and two smaller ones. He says there may be more. Already have Gastroscopy being booked....via a different Consultant. ( Camera down throat to stomach). Call due tomorrow re booking as being done under General Anaesthetic Wants me to have a CT scan of chest tummy and bowel and check to see what else may be wrong due to all symptoms. He is checking for any Cancer in all areas. Very strong Family history. Both Mum and Dad died from Cancers in that area. My Sister was lost to throat Cancer at just 29. He then wants to operate to remove all mentioned above and anything else if found through all tests. He indicated his concerns about infections as I have no Spleen and my last 13 MRSA swabs have all been positive Very thorough and what I have been wanting for sometime. He will call me back once he has all results. No timescale known by me at all. I still have to have a small operation to remove a small lump from under my left thigh and a larger one to fit the SUPRAPUBIC catheter....it will be a tube that will come from my bladder out of my tummy and emptied from there. That is about all..Carer due soon as delayed till 19:40 as late hospital appointment. Love and Hugs. Xx
