Went to the Krogers in SA. Two boys, probably 11 or so, were riding the motorized scooters through the store. The first time I saw them there was an older lady, pushing a buggy behind them, so I assumed they were together. Then I see them on the opposite side of the store without her. So I ask Boys, are you here with anyone? Immediate guilty looks and a sheepish reply of No. So I said Dont you think there may be someone whos elderly, maybe has trouble walking, that will need those? Nods in agreement. I said Could you please take them back to the front where they belong? Yes. And they did. They werent hooligans. They didnt smart me off. They were boys, in clothes that were shabby, looking a little lost, a little misdirected, and alot unsupervised. I couldnt help but wonder if anyone was waiting for them at home that cared. I wanted to bring them home, feed them dinner, give them a cupcake and let them watch a movie. Sigh.
