Went to the event tonight! Since it was the first day it was a bit slow, but my prediction is tomorrow and day after will be busier. After the successful Karachi Eat Festival, this looks like another winner by the organizers. What worked: - excellent use of space, the place looked nice and classy. - great range of food - from Karachi Meerath to Pantry to Pakola and Omore ice creams - we have a lot of choices to eat, even some nice home ventures like Nanos kitchen, etcetera add a new twist - no fast food places likes, Pizza Hut, KFC or McDees also makes it great, because one gets to try alternative cuisine - good brands like Lifebouy, 7UP were present, and very strategically blended into the event, instead of in your face branding - the event is charged, families only - so the crowd is really good, and mostly people one knows. - has great security arrangements - bouncers, cops, the works (even has an Aman Foundationambulance standing outside on a standby)!! What are the issues: - parking is a major issue, and the valets were just not enough to cater for todays rush, next two days will be worst. - the moment you walk in the smell from the mangroves hit you, wish the organisers had done something to offset that. - while the event is called the festival, the music (or rather the Arabic Naats) were not helping give it a festive buzz at all. Dont play anything, but those Sami Yousuf renditions were just making us run out from the place!! - since all the food is coming in disposable containers, there was a definite shortage of dustbins to throw the garbage away, and thus u have to deal will littered tables and grass - stall participants need to take better care when putting up a stall to make it attractive. Its their chance to establish themselves as a brand to thousands, but except Lals Chocolates, all other stalls were just food on tables and super bored/busy staff!! - felt bad for the non-food participants for the event. Those stalls were in a corner, where most of the crowd was not venturing towards, since the food stalls are first and super tempting. Hope those guys are able to make some good sales in the coming days.
