Went with this movie earlier, I Beheld His Glory, from 1953. The story deals with a Roman officer who is present during the events of the Crucifixion. Its interesting to see so many strong character actors of the era in a biblical film. The clip below has George Macready as the centurion Cornelius. Also among the cast was Morris Ankrum as Peter, Charles Charlesworth as Thomas the Doubter, James Griifith as the high priest Ciaphas, James Flavin as Longinus, and in a very small role I. Stanford Jolly as the thief Dismas. Thats right, the Crimson Ghost is hanging out with the Holy Ghost (wow, thats a bad pun). Robert Wilson, who plays Jesus in the movie apparently made something of a career portraying the Saviour for Cathedral Films in the 1950s. He turns in a sombre performance and almost carries himself like Michael Rennie - indeed I had to do a double-check that he wasnt Rennie. The smallest, slightest way for me to ponder what Christmas ultimately means - sacrifice for others. Be that buying gifts for children or bestowing charity on the less fortunate or just making someone smile, theres a profound nobility in the act of giving when it comes of and from yourself. https://youtube/watch?v=agSV0fhe0nc
