Werdum’s four-fight UFC winning streak is tied with Velasquez for the longest active streak in the heavyweight division. Werdum’s current winning streak is his longest in MMA competition since 2005. The longest streak of victories in Werdum’s career spans five fights. Werdum’s 121 significant strikes landed were the fourth most ever in a UFC heavyweight fight. Browne absorbed 121 significant strikes in the loss, by far the most of his 10-fight UFC career. His previous high for significant strikes absorbed came against Cheick Kongo at UFC 120. Browne gave up two takedowns to Werdum over the five-round contest. In nine previous UFC appearances, Browne had never been taken to the ground in eight total attempts. Miesha Tate (14-5 MMA, 1-2 UFC) snapped the first two-fight losing streak of her career for her first victory since August 2012. “Cupcake” improved to 2-3 in her past five fights overall. Tate earned her first decision victory since Aug. 13, 2010 – a span of 1,345 days (nearly four years) and six fights. Liz Carmouche (9-5 MMA, 1-3 UFC) fell to 3-5 in her past eight professional bouts. Donald Cerrone (23-6 MMA, 10-3 UFC) earned the eighth submission victory of his UFC/WEC career, the second most in history behind Nate Diaz (10). Cerrone earned his 11th submission or knockout finish of his UFC/WEC lightweight career, which is tied with Diaz for most in the history. Cerrone became the eighth fighter in UFC history to earn 10 lightweight victories. He joins Gleison Tibau, Jim Miller, Melvin Guillard, Yves Edwards, B.J. Penn, Joe Lauzon and Diaz in the 10-win club. Cerrone earned his 14th UFC/WEC fight-night bonus, the most of any fighter in the combined history of the two organizations. “Cowboy” has earned a total of $605,000 from those bonuses. Cerrone was awarded a “Performance of the Night” bonus, making him first fighter in UFC history to win a “Fight of the Night,” “Knockout of the Night,” “Submission of the Night,” and “Performance of the Night” fight-night bonus during his career. Cerrone has received a fight-night bonus in nine of his 13 UFC bouts overall. Romero fought to a decision for the first time in his nine-fight career. Romero landed seven takedowns in his victory. In four previous UFC/Strikeforce appearances, Romero had never landed a single takedown in 11 attempts. Brad Tavares (12-2 MMA, 7-2 UFC) has suffered both of his career losses by decision. PRELIMINARY CARD Khabib Nurmagomedov’s (22-0 MMA, 6-0 UFC) six-fight UFC winning streak is the longest active streak in the lightweight division. Nurmagomedov’s 22-fight MMA winning streak is tied with UFC bantamweight champion Renan Barao for the longest active winning streak of any fighter on the UFC roster. Nurmagomedov landed six takedowns in his victory and is now averaging 7.09 takedowns per 15 minutes of fighting, the highest rate of any fighter in UFC history (minimum of five fights). Alves earned his 12th UFC welterweight victory, moving into sole possession of fifth place in divisional history behind Georges St-Pierre (19), Matt Hughes (16), Josh Koscheck (14) and Jon Fitch (13). Alves earned his first decision victory since Dec. 11, 2010 – a span of 1,225 days (more than three years) and four fights. Alves’ 116 significant strikes landed were also the most of his UFC career, besting his previous high of 80 against Josh Koscheck at UFC 90. Alves’ 52 leg kicks landed set a new three-round UFC record. Cerrone held the previous high with 49 against Vagner Rocha at UFC 131. Alves’ previous single-fight high for leg kicks landed was 35 against Koscheck at UFC 90. Seth Baczynski (19-11 MMA, 5-4 UFC) fell to 1-3 in his past four UFC appearances. Baczynski has suffered three of his four UFC defeats by decision. Jorge Masvidal (26-8 MMA, 3-1 UFC) has earned two of his three UFC victories by decision. Masvidal has landed a greater number of significant strikes than his opponent in seven of his past eight fights that have gone the distance. He outlanded his opponent 62 to 32 at UFC on FOX 11. Estevan Payan (14-6 MMA, 0-3 UFC) fell to 0-3 in his UFC career with two of those losses coming by knockout. Caio Magalhaes’ (8-1 MMA, 3-1 UFC) three-fight UFC winning streak is tied for the fourth longest active streak in the middleweight division behind Weidman (seven), Belfort (four) and Romero (four). Magalhaes earned his first knockout victory since Oct. 14, 2010 – a span of 1,283 days (roughly 3.5 years) and six fights. Luke Zachrich (13-3 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first knockout loss of his 16-fight career. Hernani Perpetuo (17-4 MMA, 0-1 UFC) had his nine-fight undefeated streak snapped for his first defeat since August 2010. Perpetuo suffered his first decision loss since Nov. 29, 2008 – a span of 1,967 days (more than five years) and 15 fights. Dustin Ortiz’s (13-3 MMA, 2-1 UFC) past two UFC bouts have ended in a split decision. He’s 1-1 in those fights. Ray Borg (6-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career. Mirsad Bektic (8-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) earned the first decision victory of his career. Chas Skelly (11-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first decision loss of his career. Derrick Lewis (10-2 MMA, 1-0 UFC) extended his career-high unbeaten streak to seven fights. Lewis has earned nine of his 10 career wins by knockout. Jack May (7-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) suffered the first loss of his career.
