Were Ninja (忍者でござる Ninja de Gozaru) Pilot episode. The series begins Four hundred years ago, during the Sengoku Jidai (Warring States Period), in which the ninja and the Youkai had a great war. The 5 legendary ninja, Sarutobi Sasuke, Tsuruhime, Jiraiya, Kirigakure Saizou, and Miyoshi Seikai, sealed the Youkai Commander Nurarihyon and all his Youkais energies away in a cave protected by the Seal Door. In the present, one of the few remaining Youkai, Kappa, tricks Sarutobi Sasuke and Kirigakure Saizos descendants, also named Saizou and Sasuke, into releasing the Youkai by opening the Seal Door. Now these two, joined by a female ninja, also a descendant, named Tsuruhime, her ancestors namesake, become the Ninja Sentai Kakuranger to fight the reinvigorated Youkai with the aid of the Sanshinshou, a servant of the Tsuruhime Clan. However, the Kakurangers have their work cut out for them as the Youkai are slowly being united under one banner. Can they fight off the evil youkai and save humanity?
