Were a community, us indies. We read other indies work, we write - TopicsExpress

Were a community, us indies. We read other indies work, we write not for worldwide fame but for the love of writing (though worldwide fame would be pretty cool). But even though were a community, were also individuals. Someone was utterly shocked when they learned Im into metal. They thought we author types were always so level-headed and would listen to soft songs like jazz or classical. What they failed to realize is that just because Im a writer doesnt mean Im the stereotypical artistic person. The guy/girl you see on TV who wears scarves, thick rimmed glasses, scoffs at others for being uneducated or busuoi (NO IDEA HOW TO SPELL THIS WORD) is not who I am. The majority of writers arent even like this! We all are individuals. Outside of writing were average people, doing average things. Were not some special type of person above everything else. I listen to metal (Im listening to Dr. Acula as I type this) I play video games like Halo and Gears of War and Devil May Cry. I watch Family Guy and Workaholics and funny cat videos on YouTube just like everyone else. Remember this when you want to talk to an author. If theyre like the stereotype then its because theyre a prick, not because theyre a writer. We usually are cool people more than willing to talk to you. Dont be scared to interact with us. Most times we interact back, I promise!
