Were a little late today! Monday Mystery Classic: Following the Civil War, I remained in the Army and organized the 10th U.S. Cavalry. I selected the site for Fort Sill, OK; as commander, I supervised construction of the post. During my command at Fort Concho, my wife and I faced the tragic loss of our thirteen-year old daughter. As Commander of the District of the Pecos, I helped defeat Victorio and thereby ended the Indian threat to West Texas. I moved my headquarters to Fort Davis. Later, I commanded the District of New Mexico and the District of Arizona. I retired at the rank of brigadier general. I died in 1911 in Michigan with burial in Jacksonville, Illinois. Who was I?
