Were about to leave Bratislava and move to Vienna for the final four days of ISCM World Music Days 2013. The concerts and other events have been really amazing, and were all looking forward to the grand finale. So far, the jury for the ISCM Young Composers Award has heard pieces of Jae-Moon Lee (South Korea), Olga Bochikhina (Russia), Francisco Alvarado (Chile), Egidija Medeksaite (Lithuania), Elmira Galimova (Tartarstan), Alyson Barber (Ireland), Toru Nakatani (Japan), Diana Rotaru (Romania), Alexey Shmurak (Ukraine), Sabine Kezbere (Latvia), Georgy Dorokhov (Russia), and Andrej Slezák (Slovakia). But there is a LOT more to come in Vienna where we have yet to hear pieces by Peter McNamara (Australia), Aaron Helgeson (USA), Christina Athinodorou (Greece), Anna Pidgorna (Canada), Ádám Siska (Hungary), Avner Finberg (Israel), Ansgar Beste (Gotland), Julia Purgina (Austria), Vladimir Gorlinsky (Russia), William Rowe (USA), Yasunoshin Morita (Japan), Manos Panayiotakis (Greece), Mihyun Woo (Greece), Dimitris Mousouras (Greece), Cheong Li (Hong Kong), Maximilian Marcoll (Germany), Mirela Ivičević (Croatia), and also Wen Liu, Irene Malizia, Alexander Kaiser, Alireza Toghiyani Rizi, and Otto Wanke (whose countries I dont know). It will be an exciting and busy few days, and Ill be sure to publicize the winning composer here on Facebook as soon as it is announced.
