Were diving back into the LBFD issue at the request of many. The following are questions we have complied from you. We ask that you provide facts. If you dont want your real name to appear we will post your answer for you. DONT USE FAKE NAMES. We understand the following as a Collective. We dont want our taxes to increase. We know theres more to this than many of us our privy to. We will put links to the local Herald articles. Ask your council members directly through email or phone calls what their stance is. We begin. We kindly request that you try and keep civil. Use the # of the question in your answer. 1. If the grant the city relied on for revenue was expected to expire half way through the fiscal year, how did the city plan to account for those 5 positions for the second half of the year? 2. Was the budget improper? Because they showed 30 not 25 positions for the entire year. 3. The city manager has been quoted many times saying that the cost to maintain these 5 employees for the rest of the year would cost $660,000 and will lead to a 2% tax increase to keep them on. Two percent of $74,000,000 is $1,480,000. So these numbers dont match up at all. There is a large difference between $660,000 and $1,480,000? 4. If the city was relying on the federal grant to maintain these employees, why did they allow it to expire before applying for an extension or amendment to it? 5. We receive a donation letter for the volunteer section of the LBFD. Where does this money go and what is its use? 6. Is it true that the city is hiring more policemen? 7. How many volunteer firemen do we actually have? CBS news, The Herald and Commissioner all provided different answers.
