Were doing some renovation and repairs work at Southport Way. We were shocked at how much work needs to be done to get it ready for the next tenant. We initially budgeted $20 K but IT looks like it would be around $35 K including the purchase of up-to-date appliances. (Some walls are broken or ripped, hardwood floors ruined in many areas by some chemicals, carpet on the second floor smells dog pee all over, some bedroom mirrors cracked, microvwave burned ... Ouch!). The bright side is we got three seemingly honest, hard-working and able contractors in three areas : general builder, painter, and a woodfloors contractor. Two of these are Christians, actually from the same denomination I am a pastor in. In fact, these two called me while I was in Monterey, CA attending a Pastors Retreat, only to tell me they were praying for our safe travel. Believe it or not, their names seemed heaven-sent to us: Peter, Paul and Jesus, respectively. . . We should have gotten a Mary for the third contractor, but we ended up with a Jesus. The thing is I could not mention his name in English, and had to call him in the Latin way, Je-sus (He-sus). Calling him in English seemed blasphemous You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
