Were getting there!! There has almost been an element of chronology to these video posts which has been deliberate. Im certainly not putting up old videos and facts just to wallow in the past. I thinks its more to help cement the idea that Mike TV - as we are now, continue to be the same band we were 15 years ago. When we changed our band name back in 2008. It certainly wasnt the start of something fresh and new. It was merely to open a few more doors so we could progress further and continue to perform without being held back by having a slightly rude name ( which was starting to happen ). By the time we had finished recording the Mike TV self titled album. We all decided we wanted as many people as possible to hear it, just because we were really proud of it. I do feel that perhaps going all out on the production of that record and taking a little more time to think about song structure, melody and harmonies. The lyrical quality did suffer, but it was down to a personal simplistic pop preference rather than neglect. I guess all of those things combined may have alienated a few people from our last album and e.p. Along with the name change, black shirt and coloured tie combo :( and new 4th member ( after being a 3 piece for 6 years ). There were a lot of changes made all at once and you could be forgiven in thinking we were a completely new band, but that record was originally being made under the name Pickled Dick. I obviously sometimes wonder whether we made the right decision, but I certainly dont regret doing it. We were unable to give our debut album an independent release in Japan due to the Pickled Dick moniker. After the name change it was far easier to negotiate things like that.
