Were heading out to the road in the morning, we need to what we can to ensure our grandchildren and their grandchildren can continue to do the things that make us Tseshaht .... this from Keith Hunter: Tomorrow morning the Tseshahts will again be standing waiting by a fire in the forest as the new day begins. They are not going there to fight past battles that were completely avoidable. ..they are going there to make a place for the future generations of all life that depends upon the forests. That future deserves the best efforts to create the foundation that is needed so people can have confidence in making decisions. Forestry management is not just seeing how much money can be made. And forestry management includes the cultural values and traditional knowledge of the people that depend upon the forest to live their way of life. This week there will no doubt be done hard hitting hardball being attempted by some. The tricksters are going to be attempting to maintain their hold through illusions of non answers and empty narratives. But there are also those that do know that we can and must do better and are committed to seeking a way forward beyond the status quo of dont ask dont tell forestry practices. The courage and commitment of the ones that will be awaiting thst sunrise has to be honored. They are putting themselves at risk and making personal sacrifices to walk their talk. I will do my best to find them options to choose from and bring people to the table thst will respect their vision that guides them. It is time to bring this back to the ground and back to the people.
