Were in Maine. Drove 12 hours the first day, 2 hours on, 2 hours off, so only 6 hours each, and stayed in Fredericksburg, VA in a dog friendly motel. The next day we started earlier and didnt want to get off in the traffic jam around DC to find coffee, so I didnt have my first cup till we were supposed to switch, but I was too addled. Bob drove for about 15 minutes while I woke up, and then we switched back and forth as usual. The traffic was horrendous and we wereparked so much that it took us 14 1/2 hours to get to Maine. There was one wonderful experience: we chased a rainbow all up I 495 in the rainy weather. Part of the time it was actually on the road just in front of us, but it kept just ahead because it is actually an optical phenomenon, you are seeing the spectrum at a particular angle through the water drops so you cant catch it. We even had a double rainbow for a while. We got to our place at dark and Bob had to unscrew one cabin door to get to the giant extension cord that runs the cabin we stay in. Electricity! Woohoo! Saw all our friends on Steve Waters porch for the flag raising on July 4th and then went back to bed. Today I helped open my late mothers camp with nephewnWill and his girlfriend and niece Lovey and my older sister Vickie. It was fun after a while. Entirely too much stuff in that place. Resting now.
