Were made much stronger by our scars Months ago, I came to know - TopicsExpress

Were made much stronger by our scars Months ago, I came to know about this beautiful young woman I watched on a TV program, Abby Asistio, a singer/songwriter in the Philippines, an Alopecia Awareness Ambassador. Later on, she and I became Facebook friends. We share something very powerful in our lives and that connected us. After sometimes, Abby wrote and recorded her single entitled “Beautiful”. Earlier this March, she also launched #TheBeautifulProject, a call to action to tell the world that every person is beautiful just the way they are. In her own words: One song. One message. Different people from parts of the world. And she has personally invited my little diamond, my daughter GLISHA DELA CRUZ to take part in this project. A dear friend, who’s ever creative, supportive, and hardworking, Herdel Gonzales, shot, edited, and completed the video for Glisha. My brother, a book author, writer, editor, professor, and a Carlos Palanca awardee made some advice and inputs, and Glisha, together with her director, finished the story concept for the video. Lovely kids put in cast. One of them has been bullied in school and we wanted her to be inspired by this project. It was one beautiful morning in White Rock, British Columbia. Couple of sleepless nights. And the music video was created. Glisha said she dedicates the song for me - in time for my birthday this April. Thirteen years ago, I had her. It was life changing. I loss so much then, but I gained her. And she is all that matters. Right in time for us launching Glisha’s FB Fan page, I am proud to share Glisten Productions first music video for Abby Asistios #TheBeautiufulProject. I personally offer this to some of my friends: my favorite SPIDS baby, Lineth Hizon, who has been bullied and abused in her younger years but has risen beautifully from that unfortunate episode of her life and now epitomizes beauty inside and outside, to my FB friend in Utah, Miss Angelica Galindez, who was crowned Miss Philippines-USA Earth-Water 2014 while boldly and courageously accepting her situation and openly promoting Alopecia Awareness, to my friend Tracy Steyn, who, despite loosing a very beautiful part of her, remains to be an inspiration, and lastly, to my fellow SPIDS director and dear friend Marissa Magcawas - this is for you. Thank you my diamond for doing this, and for being the most beautiful in my life. - with Joel Dela Cruz ASct, Glisha Dela Cruz, Marissa A.
