Were most of the way through preparing a tender submission for Fremantles verge collections, and it looks really good. To give some headline numbers, we believe we can divert 89% of bulk waste from landfill. The current average for verge waste in the metro area is 6%. In the case of Fremantle, this means reducing verge waste to landfill from 1,100 tonnes per year to about 150 tonnes. In reducing waste to landfill, we create local jobs and boost the local economy. And we do it all for a similar price to the current service (once landfill fees are included). We are hopeful that well get careful consideration. We acknowledge that trying something new does require everybody to take a bit of a leap of faith. It also requires Garbologie to learn very rapidly as it goes... Were up for it.
