Were neither the Farrelly brothers nor the Coen brothers, but with a few epic films and some elaborate Halloween productions under our belts, indeed we are the Rudolph brothers. Waaaay back in the day we even recorded a take of Space Giants on our Memas reel to reel recorder. Thankfully technology has changed, but what I wouldnt give to listen to that again. We have played numerous rhyming games, unprompted, via text over days at a time since both of us started texting; I wish I could remember some of the chains of words we have come up with, but suffice to say, his knowledge and sharp wit are a great exercise for my training in art school. He excels at branding his own sense of humor and is a wordsmith for sure: Fort Lauderdale, goat, Sugs Olyp, Waktaw Tribe, Johnny Sweetpea OMalley (jsp), Feliticus, ring lock, thierandoral, Johnny Shakewell, voss, resonotorial, oh yes (like the trio), and of course a definitive sense of YE. I trust you will forgive the misspellings but rest assured, these names and words (and many, many more) have been etched into our brains for years to come. When asked how he is, hell respond with fine as twine or well as a bell which never quits ringing. Nice as Posh Spice is also an oft-repeated response. As we drove with his daughter to celebrate his birthday last night and discussed the fact that it was getting dark early, he said like a dog says woof woof or ____ ____ and she responded bark bark and it occurred to me the love he was showing to her, to us, and how much he must appreciate the fact that she especially takes part in this communication style. There is no rhyme or reason but somehow it makes perfect sense. Father, brother, son, friend, confidant, supporter, like Oscar to Felix, I am Deeks to his David. Happye birthday.
