Were releasing a new capability on Wednesday and I wanted to give our Facebook group an opportunity to use it earlier. Its DeLorme inReach and SPOT integration into eBoatCards Locations. If you have DeLorme inReach or SPOT, just log into eBoatCards, click the Edit Profile button, click on the Boat Details tab at the top, and scroll down to find DeLorme inReach configuration and SPOT configuration fields (you must be a boat in eBoatCards for these configuration settings). Each item has a link to detailed instructions for obtaining the configuration data for your device. DeLorme inReach and SPOT are small, inexpensive satellite tracking devices. Theyll record your location and work anywhere on Earth - no internet or cellular needed. If you configure it within eBoatCards, itll automatically update your eBoatCards location and make it available to your friends and selected group members. It detects when your tracking device is on and automatically grabs the location. Each company also provides track recording so others can view your track too. Well be doing a lot with track recording as well but we combine your location data with all your friends/group member locations onto one display. This is a unique use for each device. Ive been using both and especially the DeLorme inReach device for the last couple of months. If you go to our eBoatCard and click on our Location, itll show that it was last received from DeLorme inReach when we arrived in Cocoa Village a couple of days ago: eboatcards/acappella_castine_me_us/location/ Were announcing this new capability on Wednesday. And weve never done this but weve also arranged a special with Defender and DeLorme for next week for the inReach device. Its a remarkable product that has some other unique capabilities. I joked around about the reason for getting these electronic gizmos - its for safety. This one really is. Ill explain much more about it on Wednesday. If youre interested though, dont buy it yet! Wait for the special pricing, rebates, and free service bundles coming. Theres an unheard of price coming.
