Were submitting the Wayward Souls update soon. Ill make another post when this happens, with a full list of all the changes. Below is some news about our next game. It will include some changes to the previous areas. This includes both new encounters, and areas 1-3 becoming slightly less long. I think the earlier game ends up being a bit easier when you also include a lot of the characters becoming stronger. I think Im ok with this, as I dont want people to necessarily get stuck in the third area. Im fine with few people ever beating the fourth dungeon, though. Were looking into doing another game like Wayward Souls, but free+IAP like originally intended. Theres feedback we really cant consider for WS because its already designed, but stuff I can put in a new game. Some top suggestions Ive seen: 1. IAP for an easy mode. I dont think the next game would have this either, but thered be stuff you could buy like an extra life to help you out. 2. More meaningful grinding. Maybe I shouldnt have had grinding at all in WS, to avoid this issue. In the next game, youd be able to grind the IAP stuff, and permanent upgrades would likely be a bit stronger. 3. More RPG-like equipment upgrades. Stats and such. My answer: Sure, whatever. Its easy to do. I wanted to try something different in WS, and Im pretty happy with the results (at least in the first update). But I can see how were pretty much stuck with number treadmills. Im going to offset this by at least avoiding the whole enemies get X% more health as you do X% more damage thing. Instead Ill just have enemy numbers get thicker and thicker. 4. People getting stuck. I think the next game is going to use a central hub area, and you can do the areas in any order you want. And once you beat each area, it remembers which ones youve won as and can permanently unlock the final area. That way you can go straight to the final area to practice it, though youll be missing out on a lot of upgrades if you do so. #1-3 should also help. I think Id also like to have way more characters, but simplified. Each character would have a normal weapon, and power attack weapon, a passive stat bonus, a single special ability, like the Rogue or Spellsword did in WS. I think this is easier to control, mostly. Easier to design around, too. More news on this game later!
