Wes update: It has been four days since Wes major abdominal/bowel surgery. I will give a quick update, because I have a lot of homework to do and I am kind of bummed about yet another thing to be added to Wes list. The ng tube remains, still putting out green yuckiness. He actually threw up over 250ccs of this stuff this morning. He has walked two laps today and it was hard to watch your child cry in pain saying, i am trying. I am trying. over and over again as the therapist encourages him to walk straight. We are still unsure of a plan going forward. I do know they want to send his new tumor off for testing to compare the mutations to the mutations of the last tumor. Wes has also been complaining of back pain and I am thinking it is related to the epidural that is still in his back. Dr L wants that to come out, because it could be slowing down the movement in his bowels, which have slowed down a lot the past few days. Speaking of which, we just woke up from a nap to learn that Wes now has c-diff, an infection discovered in ones stool. In almost 3 1/2 years, Wes has never had this until now. This was likely caused by excessive antibiotics which he has been on, intestinal surgery, or being in the hospital. Now Wes is on lockdown isolation, gowns, gloves and all. In addition to this info, Wes albumin levels (protein) are low so he will be getting a transfusion tonight for that as well. I cant wait for things to start turning around.
