West Indies Women complete ICC Women’s Championship Clean Sweep over New Zealand Womens. A stunning spell of 5 for 15 from Shakera Selman helped West Indies Women to a convincing eight-wicket victory over New Zealand Women in its third One Day International, with the home side also garnering two points in the ICC Women’s Cricket Championship on Wednesday (September 17) at the Warner Park in St Kitts. With the win, West Indies completed a 3-0 sweep in the ICC Women’s Championship matches. New Zealand opted to bat first on a hard and easy-paced track, but was bowled out for 69 in just 32.2 overs. West Indies made light work of the chase, finishing the job in just 17.2 overs with eight wickets in hand. Selman opened the bowling for the first time in the series and immediately justified her captains decision by running through the New Zealand top order. She took five of the first six wickets that fell, including that of in-form Sophie Devine, as New Zealand was reduced to 38 for 6 under 15 overs. There was a risk of the visitors being bowled out for less than 50, but Rachel Priest and Maddie Green offered some resistance down the order. Priest battled for 56 balls for her 19, while Green made a patient 35-ball 14 as the duo frustrated West Indies for more than 12 overs. However, it was too little too late and once Green fell to off-spinner Anisa Mohammed in the 27th over, the New Zealand innings folded quickly. After Selmans spell of 10-2-15-5, Anisa Mohammeds 3 for 11 from 6.2 overs wiped out the tail. Only three New Zealand players managed to get into double digits, and the 24-run partnership between Priest and Green for the seventh wicket was the highest of the innings. In reply, West Indies lost its openers Kycia A Knight and Natasha McLean early and was reduced to 36 for 2 in 10.2 overs, but the small target was never going to cause any trouble. Stafanie Taylor (23 off 29) and Deandra Dottin (21 off 23) scored at a brisk pace and completed the formalities.
