West Mercia Police Issue Witness Appeal To Lorry Driver Travelling In Shrewsbury Police in West Mercia are appealing for information following a fatal road traffic collision (RTC) in the early hours of Friday 6 June. The incident occurred on the A5 near Shrewsbury, where a red Vauxhall Corsa collided with the traffic island at the junction with the B4380 and London Road at around 2.15am Police are particularly keen to speak to the driver of an articulated lorry who may have seen the red Vauxhall Corsa travelling on the wrong side of the dual carriageway and being followed by a police vehicle. Officers believe that the driver of the lorry may have been travelling through Shrewsbury on the A5 from Oswestry and heading either onto the M54 towards the West Midlands or on the A49 towards Cheshire. Inspector Julian Smith, the investigating officer, said today: A full investigation is underway to establish the full circumstances surrounding the fatal RTC and it is vital that we speak to the driver of the lorry who may have witnessed the vehicles travelling along the A5.
