The pilot tells him that he is going to climb to 45,000’ and that he must put his oxygen mask on at 15,000’. The scientist has in his possession an instrument that measures the percentage of oxygen in the air in the cabin and tells the pilot that as soon as the percentage of oxygen starts to drop he will put on his oxygen mask. The pilot says you are the rocket scientist so do as you like. Upon landing at destination, the pilot enters the passenger compartment and finds the rocket scientist dead and his oxygen mask unused. On further investigation, they find that the instrument that the scientist was using was working perfectly. What happened? Why didn’t the rocket scientist use his oxygen mask?
