WestPacWx-wise: For our friends down South Pacific, heres the 18Z map on the 12th of March 2014. Tropical Cyclone 19P/Lusi exhibits quite an astonishing size. The system flanking Vanuatu and New Caledonia at the moment. Latest plotting yields its location just 189.2 km North-northeast of Port Vila, Vanuatu (17.0S-169.9E). More islands in Vanuatu are being widely affected by bad wx conditions so keep safe! As to winds, it now has 102 km/hr sustained gusts higher and gaining steam steadily but as we go further into the weekend, and wx should start to improve gradually. A weakening trend follows and as it moves further down South moving over into North Island of New Zealand. Since its huge circulation, itll be a lot of wind and rain in the next couple of days.
