Westwind is beyond blessed with a caring and compassionate - TopicsExpress

Westwind is beyond blessed with a caring and compassionate community that has continued to show support. This last week has been one of learning to move forward in the face of tragedy. Oya No Kai Leader Rich Burt put it this way: “Camp Westwind is a place of great natural beauty, a place where we can see that for an eternity the ocean, rocks and sand have been in motion. It is a place where we can pause, and feel that the wind keeps blowing, and hear that the waves keep rolling. A place where we can reflect upon the life we still have to live. For many of us it has been a place where the laughter of children floats on the wind, and friends greet you with smiles and warm embrace. We feel that it can also be a place to begin the process of healing, both as individuals and as a community. Healing will be a long process, but it begins with the first step.” Rich’s amazing words capture one of Westwind’s essential values, its capacity for healing. We are honored by their choice to return this last weekend and again this Friday we will meet them at the river and together we will continue in this healing process.
