Wetumpka Indians Nation, This last week has been full of a lot of hard work and dedication to get ready for the beginning of football and this weekend was extremely long, there were some of us that worked 6-8 hours on Friday night and 10-11 hours in the blistering heat on Saturday. We have some of the greatest parents I have ever had the pleasure of working with. There are so many hours sacrificed to make this program successful and we even have some parents that come and volunteer that do not even have football players. I say that last part because as much as we appreciate the parents that do that, we should never have to ask non- football parents to volunteer because our Football parents wont come out and do their part. We had some volunteers that should of only worked 2 hours have to stay for 6-Plus hours because we didnt have enough parents helping, we had to get Varsity players to run the chains out in this heat for hours the day after playing a game because we couldnt get any middle school dads to step up and support this program. We even had to rely on a visiting teams parent to help with the chains. I hear a lot from the stands when i walk around that gives me the impression that some parents just dont get it and somehow think all of this stuff just magically happens and they dont understand all the sacrifice and hard work that goes into helping their children play football. I heard someone say that the football program gets grants to pay for all this equipment and that Wetumpka is making money off the football program. Its always the ones making the most noise that do the least and just really have no idea what it takes to keep a football program going. I challenge every parent to step up and do your part to support this program and dont just sit back and enjoy the perks and let the few do the work of the many. Each and every parent with a football player has an obligation and a responsibility to this program to do anything you can to make it successful.
