Weve all heard the old saying: If you want something done right, do it yourself. Lets take that to the next level. If you need something done at all, do it yourself! Im not saying thats always been the case; in fact, Ive probably gotten more than my share of help. But for 3 days now, Ive had a clogged toilet. God knows what dropped in there--paper towels from a pocket or something. Plunging usually fixes it. Not this time. And I couldnt fish out whatever fell in there. The new manager apparently submitted a work order to Maintenance, but as of today, it hadnt been checked out yet. I guess they now have a certain chain of command as far as maintenance. Desperate times call for desperate measures. So one disgusting bit at a time, I fished out what I could and deposited it into a plastic bag, trying ever so carefully not to drip filthy water and everything else all over the place! I thought it had been draining a little, but it hadnt been draining at all! Only the water would go down after an eternity. Finally, after I felt Id gotten out enough to try plunging again without making a horrific mess, I tried again for all it was worth, still being ever so careful not to splash all over. Then, I heard that telltale sign: Success! Believe me, after washing everything including the floor for good measure, all I wanted was a shower, and I didnt even want dinner. But of course, I had to force myself, because I dont want to wake up at 2 AM wanting a nighttime snack! Urrrr!
