Weve all seen a steady stream of these articles about how P&W is - TopicsExpress

Weve all seen a steady stream of these articles about how P&W is becoming too secularized and turning into worship-tainment. Heres a random thought about that: I remember conversations I had with church musicians and worship leaders as far back as 25 years ago where they felt that the church needed to reclaim the arts, and that the arts had largely been abandoned by the church centuries ago. Modern P&W is a thriving music scene that is happening right in our churches. That is unique. Even Contemporary Christian Music was something of a stepchild that lived on the fringes of the Church but wasnt in the center like P&W. All that said, maybe the arts have returned to the church in at least one form. Instead of fearing secularization from P&W, maybe we should treat this thriving music scene as an opportunity to have a leading musical and artistic voice that carries real spiritual purpose and has reach in our whole culture, both inside and outside of the church, and has the strength and influence to impact society, and not just be a Christian counterpart to the secular music world. Seems were looking at it all backwards to me. Maybe what Ive said here is old news, but if it is Im not hearing it anywhere. Thoughts?
