Weve been hearing reports that the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) is considering plans to divert over a billion dollars away from Sandy housing recovery to be used for a national resiliency competition. With so many New Yorkers still not in their homes 18 months after Sandy, and the City claiming they need more funding for Build it Back to cover all rebuilding/repair..I have strongly opposed this appalling plan. After fighting hard in Congress to pass the Sandy relief bill, I wont let our disaster recovery resources be siphoned off for less urgent needs than those facing Sandy victims in Brooklyn and Staten Island!
