Weve been in and out during today visiting in pairs. They moved mom into a chair for a couple hours this afternoon & will move her back to her bed in a little while. Shes going to spend another night here in ICU then off to her room in the AM. I decided to get permission from the subject at hand before I posted too many details about the surgery & she gave me the post away. So the surgery was predicted to last 5 hours with the OR booked for 7 hours with 1 hour of prep & 1 hour of post surgery stuff. As you may be aware it went over just a little and that was due to the fact that the surgeon was going in to remove 3 lesions & after getting in there he found 3 more than what was assumed to be there. So if your counting thats 6 total that were removed. He also removed a small portion of her lung & he had to remove the ends of the 2 closest ribs to the infected area. He replaced the area of the ribs he removed with a small piece of plastic to keep the shape of the cavity. So we cant refer to her as the bionic woman, but as we all know plastic doesnt seem to break down too quickly so maybe indestructible is a better term to describe her. Let you know more when theres more to know.
