Weve been in two teams today. The away team went to CAMRAs warehouse in St. Albans to collect the hand pulls which make Shrewsbury beer festival such a wonderful experience (along with a whole lot of gubbins which make sure we can drink the beer rather than swim in it). The home team continued receiving and stillaging beers, so that weve only got a few still to come tomorrow. We even got a couple of beers we werent expecting! (They had been ordered, we had been told the order couldnt be fulfilled, but Lo! there they were. So youd better come and help us drink them.) They were also stringing the pythons along the bar, so the beer can get to the pumps, and getting the rest of the hall set up (entrance tables, that sort of thing). Last beers tomorrow, getting the hand pulls on the bar and the lines flushed and cleaned. And building the fourth wall of the temporary cellar, which also acts as our sponsors wall, where we let you know about our wonderful sponsors and the people who help us out, like Real Ale Direct, who sourced the vast majority of our out-county beers, and could do the same for you in cask or bottles.
