Weve been lulled to sleep by the droning sounds and flashing lights of our gadgets. They give us a false sense of purpose; a false sense of importance. Dumbed down, over worked, under-paid, and distracted by constant, irrelevant, mundane tasks, weve been tricked into believing that this is the American dream. This is freedom. Weve been duped into believing that this is as good as it gets, while struggling to believe the illusion of a reality, where anyone can achieve anything... If they just work hard enough. Weve grown angry, cynical, pessimistic, and apathetic, yet full of answers that have been implanted in our minds as truth by those who wish to control us. We live to shoot the messenger, while dismissing the message as politically biased always. The chains of slavery, mental or physical, dont just fall off; they require struggle. To break free from them, one must have the willingness, and awareness to accolish greatness. As well as the acceptance of certain truths, that would require one to lament in the idea of uncomfortable struggles, and sacrifice. Yes, my friends, weve been lulled to sleep, and I fear that it may be too late to wake up. Oceans, streams, and rivers polluted beyond repair. Polar ice caps melted, and with them, the hope of enough clean water to drink. Cancer rates to double or triple in the next few decades. Science, under critical attack by those who lack the willingness to accept fact, yet manage to control legislation policy, and not-so-ironically, the fiscal rewards of their own policies. With quality education on the decline, America now ranks 36th in the world.... 36th.... Our social discourse had been intentionally and forever polarized , where a disagreement no longer ends in compromise; but in the labeling of those who disagree as the enemy. This polarization is intentional, and fueled by the very people who wish to divide this nation, and run off with all the money, resources, land, and control. Yes, this is America now. A theocratic corporatist oligarchy, were politicians are no more than representatives of the global elite. .0001% of the people in the world control everything. Theyve pitted us against each other, and left us to squabble over meaningless issues of the day, while they run off with everything and blame the poor, and NEVER pay a penance for their crimes, and there are many. Your political party doesnt matter, when the water runs dry. Your loudmouth pundit that get you fired up is just lying to you to protect his interests... to protect their interests. Free press, free speech, freedom from unwarranted search and seizure... They arent free anymore. Why? Because weve been lulled to sleep, distracted, misinformed, misguided, and purposely led astray; down the road of blind apathy. Those who wish to divide us, have a vested interest in making sure that youre not paying attention; or if you are that youre paying attention to lies. So, how can a new revolution ever happen? How can we set right the sail of this ship? I dont even know anymore. Nothing can be done, shouting at each other from opposite ends of an intentionally polarized spectrum. With need to replace angry, distracted, apathetic, and dumb with moderate, empathetic, focused, and educated. Sadly, I fear this mountain too steep to climb, and we lack the cohesive, collective consciousness to achieve greatness, anymore. Unless there something that Im missing...
