Weve got a VERY COOL triptych seen here on this Poster From The Past which frames the lettering on the left and on the right. In the center frame is a collage made up of a green mushroom cloud from a nuclear explosion, a lavender cape, a pair of hands one facing up and one facing down and a stone sculpture with a two headed snake. Horned skulls appear above both the left and right side of the triptych, and the skull of an insect appears above the center. This is BG Fillmore poster number #133. The word BLOOM appears at the top center of the poster giving this poster its name. This piece was the very first to issue a double sized card the size of two of the regular cards placed side to side. Both the poster and the handbill card for this event are fairly expensive because of the awesome artistic design from the collaboration of these two Masterfully GREAT rock artists…. Rick Griffin and Alton Kelley. The fact that the WHO and the GRATEFUL DEAD were on the bill didnt hurt its popularity a bit either! It is said that this poster was originally designed for the Family Dog but when they couldnt afford the art it was brought to Bill Graham and he snapped it up in a second! It was 46 years ago on this day back in 1968, that this all-star cast of bands including The Who, James Cotton, Magic Sam, Creedence Clearwater Revival Official, Albert Collins, Grateful Dead, Kaleidoscope, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Spooky Tooth, and Cold Blood, kicked off nearly two weeks worth of dance/concerts at the Fillmore West, right smack dab in the center of downtown San Francisco. WOW….. What an extravaganza of incredibly cool music and bands! I remember that the Who especially blew us all away… What else! This poster was printed only one time! Share it…. Gotta love it! I did and do…. Approved by Professor Poster
