Weve had a business in Boscombe for a while now, so Ive spent a lot of time there. The area gets a lot of local press, mainly negative. Every time someone gets arrested, it hits the news. Bizarre. The truth is, its one of the coolest areas in the county. Lots of trendy types living there; surfers, artists, musicians, a live music scene including the 02 Academy, great beaches, waterfront properties, quality independent Cafes, restaurants and general stores, and a real sense of community. There are of course many under privileged people living there too. There are social issues that need constant attention. The local authorities are working hard to make it a cleaner, safer and more attractive place to live and visit. Theyre doing a great job. How is this different to any other town in the UK? I grew up in London. Boscombe is no different to many areas of the City. Having said this, we feel that its our duty as a local business to contribute to the community. Christmas is not a fun time for everyone, and for that reason we have decided to turn Chicken Shacks Boscombe store into a food bank on Christmas Eve this year. We are working with Boscombe, Pokesdown and Southbourne Childrens Centres, who will be identifying 50 underprivileged families deemed suitable beneficiaries of our Chicken Shack Xmas Boxes. We will be providing food, Xmas style gifts and such like in these boxes. I invite local businesses to contribute too. Feel free to message me if you would like to donate something.
