Weve had lots of questions about the fall webworms. Bobby Jackson - TopicsExpress

Weve had lots of questions about the fall webworms. Bobby Jackson forester for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers shared more photos with us. He commented, We conducted a site visit and determined 90% of the trees on Red Oak Island in Pool 7 are affected by the webworm. We are relatively confident that the natural predators (yellow billed cuckoos and wasps) will knock the population back down again without permanent damage being done. The island will be revisited next spring to evaluate tree health early in the growing season and verify if webworm populations are declining as expected. The webworms are known as late season defoliators. Because of this, little real damage is done to the trees.
