Weve had reforms in this country for the elderly. We provide education, services and housing to special needs citizens. There are laws to protect children against child abuse, abandonment and neglect but WHEN will the reforms begin for the animals in shelters who we are SUPPOSED to be sheltering and caring for? I know of several shelters who are crying out for help from the public because of the huge numbers of dogs and cats who need homes. There are shelters all across America who are failing dismally and they are not providing the services that WE the taxpayers are paying for. This is why we are seeing large numbers of animal rescues springing up. But I contend that there needs to be an investigation of what is going on in these abysmal excuses for animal shelters. We have a responsibility to care for our companion animals, those who we domesticated and love us unconditionally!
