Weve missed being able to make daily updates to our Facebook page whilst in China, but we head to Hong Kong on Wednesday full of enthusiasm after a great week singing to packed houses in Beijing, Guangzhou and Shanghai, including at the wonderful NCPA in Beijing. It always amazes us that our audiences know our repertoire so well - many of our audience members knew the new Great American Songbook arrangements and gave us a wonderful welcome. Our first visit to China happened within the last five years, so this is a new market for us, but theres always been a very strong musical tradition and weve been stunned by the quality of the music-making. In Shanghai we worked with young singers at Dulwich College Shanghai, the first school to be opened in a series of plants by Dulwich College, a famous English school in South East London. This last week has also been our opportunity to try out some new Christmas repertoire in rehearsals, in preparation for Christmas 2015, and also to polish up The Wind in the Willows, which were excited to be performing in Hong Kong at the end of this week.
