Weve posted this video on this page before, but well its worth seeing again if its been a while. Its very informative as to how shipping containers are made from their beginnings as rolled sheet steel all the way through to applying the graphics and quality control testing. The containers themselves are relatively simple. But there are many subtle details that you need to be aware of to have them work properly as building units. This is especially true when removing or adding steel and structural components to them, and more importantly, when multiple containers are used together, either side by side or stacked. The 28mm (~1.1/8) thick apitong plywood floors by themselves are simply amazing! Although theyve typically seen about 10 years of active service in the shipping industry, we only buy high quality containers and normally we just sand and seal/stain the floors as they are.
