We’re still laughing hard when the waiter comes to take our order, which includes a second bottle of rose. For my starter I devour a succulent serve of garlic prawns fried in lashings of butter and fresh garlic, topped with stacks of chopped fresh parsley. For my main meal, I have a salmon risotto that’s been cooked with fresh dill and cream, and I cover it with freshly cracked black pepper. As we eat, drink and laugh, I am counting my blessings that I’m a long way from Marseilles.
